Flood 2011

The floods in Queensland in 2010-2011 produced many images to remind us of the power of water and how destructive it can be. This photograph is but one of them and it shows how high the water level can get in a very short time.

The photograph was taken standing on the north bound lanes of the bridge over the North Pine River in Petrie looking towards Lawnton. The top rail of the south bound deck is normally about eight meters above the water level in the river.
